Frédéric Vasseur, an ESTACA graduate at the head of Scuderia Ferrari

Frédéric Vasseur took over as head of the most famous Formula 1 team, the Scuderia Ferrari, on 9th January last. The 1995 ESTACA graduate left Sauber to take over the reins of the famous Italian team as Team Principal and General Manager. His exemplary career in motor sports is an example for all ESTACA students.

After graduating from ESTACA in 1995, he initially worked as a track engineer before becoming the boss of ASM Racecars in 1998, a team focused on rallying and then on Formula 3. It became one of the leading teams in the French championship and then in the F3 Euro Serie. It remained undefeated with 51 wins in 80 races from 2004 to 2009.

He then created the ART Grand Prix team, which has helped reveal several big names in current F1, including Nicolas Todt.

After holding the position of F1 Director at Renault, he joined worked with the Sauber F1 team as General Manager for 5 years. Today Frédéric Vasseur is joining the most famous team in the history of Formula 1. CEO Benedeto Vigna, is delighted:

Throughout his career, he has managed to combine his technical strengths as a skilled engineer with a consistent ability to bring out the best in his drivers and teams. Frédéric Vasseur has kept in touch with ESTACA. During a conference for students, he said:

« ESTACA is a good gateway into the world of motor racing: in the field, we come across many ESTACA graduates, with great responsibilities, like Remi TAFFIN (98 graduate), Group Technical Director at Oreca. »
