Internship Experiences Around the World
Internships are an integral part of ESTACA engineer training. In total, each student spends at least 12 months in companies, putting their knowledge into practice and building a career plan. This summer, 2032 students from 1st to 5th year completed internships in companies ranging from start-ups to major groups in France and abroad.
Our proximity to companies, through long-standing partnerships and a vast network of alumni, opens the door to a wide variety of internships and facilitates the integration of trainees in a wide range of sectors and professions in France and abroad. A dedicated department helps each student find internships and build a career path based on their personal aspirations.
Skills in a variety of functions…
The skills of an ESTACA engineer are cross-disciplinary, the diploma is a general one and opens the door to all the engineering professions. This year, in ‘workers and company discovery internships’ in 1st and 2nd years, the most represented professions are in maintenance (50%), followed by production (20%).
In 3rd, 4th and 5th years, most internships are carried out in Research and Development and Design (35%), followed by Maintenance, Production, Testing, IT, Engineering, Sales/Marketing, Quality, Audit/Consulting, Purchasing…
In a variety of structures…
Many organizations need engineers to meet the industrial challenges of sustainable mobility: large groups, SMEs, start-ups, NGOs and associations.
This year, of the companies that hosted the most ESTACA trainees, we find the following aeronautics companies: Safran, Airbus, Air France, MBDA, Thales, Dassault, and numerous airports and aeroclubs, notably for internships at the start of the curriculum (1st and 2nd years).
In the aerospace program, major groups such as Ariane Group, CNES and Aerospacelab are represented, as are NewSpace start-ups such as Alpha Impulsion.
In the automotive program, a large number of internships have been spent at Renault, Stellantis, Norauto, BMW, Valéo, as well as with racing teams such as Art Grand Prix, CLX Motorsport…
In the rail program, are SNCF, Alstom, RATP, Colas Rail… and in the shipping program: Chantiers de l’Atlantique, Naval Group, as well as start-ups and NGOs.
Students also carry out assignments for a wide range of recruiters, including the armed forces or consulting companies such as Capgemini, Expleo France, etc.
The companies that recruit our graduates often say that ESTACA’s strength lies in its highly professional training. Graduates are operational as soon as they leave school because, in addition to their in-depth knowledge of their transport sector, they have acquired real professional experience and corporate know-how thanks to numerous internships. The number of internship offers received by the School outnumbers the number of students looking, so everyone has a choice!
…all over the world to develop engineering know-how
International experience is a compulsory part of every student’s training at ESTACA, in the form of university stays or internships abroad. Every year, 1/3 of our students do international internships.
Among the most represented countries this year are the European ones: Belgium, Germany, Spain, then across the Atlantic to the United States and Canada.
Students went to a total of 45 different countries around the world: from Australia to Costa Rica, via Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Tanzania, Peru, etc.
A professional and international project support center offers effective support and tools for finding career opportunities, meeting companies and guiding students according to their objectives.
