ESTACA Erasmus Days: Preparing for a Successful International Experience

5 November 2024

In October, the three ESTACA campuses took part in #Erasmus Days, a week of events entirely devoted to international mobility. This was a key opportunity to raise awareness among future engineers of the importance of intercultural awareness and internationalization in their training and careers.

An essential part of the engineering course

International experience is a must for future engineers, most of whom will be working in multicultural environments. At ESTACA, this is an integral part of the program, with one mandatory semester abroad, two modern languages up to 3rd year, and modules to introduce students to interculturality.

The administrative and teaching staff support students at every stage of their project. They offer internships, information about partnerships for semester-long exchanges, support in preparing applications, and international awareness courses.

Erasmus Days, One Week on International Study

As part of this support, every year the school takes part in Erasmus Days, a week-long European celebration of international mobility and intercultural exchange. Student associations, employees, external speakers, international students, ESTACA students and young graduates who have been abroad in recent years, took part in the ESTACA Erasmus Days from October 14 to 19. On the program: informative webinars, inspiring alumni testimonials, practical workshops on finding internships and applying for semesters and master’s programs abroad, best practices for obtaining visas for the UK and USA, not forgetting a round table on international experience, a film debate, a photo contest and sports competitions to liven up the week.

Among the many ESTACA expatriate graduates, several shared their experience with the students:

America (USA / Canada):

  • Jérémy NGUYEN (class of 2023), Operations Management at SAFRAN in the USA,
  • Hervé ROGGERO (class of 1992), Managing Partner at Enzo Unified in the USA,
  • Arthur LAURENT (class of 2015), currently a pilot with SkyNorth Air in Canada,
  • Fanny SILVESTRI (class of 2006), currently in the USA,
  • Cédric ALEXANIAN (class of 2004), currently VP Operations at Anderton Industries in the USA.

Asia

  • Ferréol MARANDE (class of 1998), CEO at ARENGY in the United Arab Emirates,
  • Valentin LE BARAZER (class of 2011) at Ultra Clean Technology, quality & supplier-chain leader in Singapore.

Europe

  • Cyrille PILLET (class of 1997), VP Customer Support, Tech Services & Head of Design Organisation at Dassault Aviation Business Services in Switzerland,
  • Luc BONNET (class of 2019), Supplier Performance Engineer at Westinghouse Electric Germany GmbH in Germany,
  • Thierry ANNEQUIN (class of 1991), Chassis Innovation Manager at Ferrari in Italy.

This rich and varied program enabled 350 students to better get to grips with their international project. The event was very well received, as evidenced by the enthusiastic feedback. A great occasion for future engineers to prepare for their own adventure and discover the many opportunities awaiting them abroad.
