ESTACA and KEOLIS Formalize their Partnership to Train Tomorrow’s Mobility Engineers
Intermodality is a major challenge for tomorrow’s mobility. This partnership between ESTACA, a school for connected and inclusive mobility for a sustainable world, and KEOLIS, the world’s leading tramway and metro expert, consolidates strategic collaboration between the academic and industrial worlds, with the aim of forging closer links between two key stakeholders in the sector.
“The renewal of this long-term partnership between Estaca and Keolis strengthens our common desire for and pride in supporting young graduates who will develop and innovate for sustainable and inclusive mobility. We share an ambition for innovative, sustainable and safe modes of transport in response to the expectations of passengers, and very much in line with those of our employees”, stresses Lydie Jailler, Director of Human Resources at Keolis.
“By strengthening our cooperation with a major actor in sustainable, connected daily mobility like Keolis, we are offering our students concrete prospects for experience and employment in line with their training. At ESTACA, we see the growth in these sectors in the growing number of our students,” declared Denis Bertrand, Director of ESTACA.
ESTACA trains specialist engineers in the aeronautical, automotive, space, rail and shipping sectors. It is the only French engineering school to offer training specifically dedicated to guided and rail transports, from which some forty engineers graduate each year specialized in this field. For the 160 students studying these options, the school currently offers training that combines learning with community projects.
Cementing Long-standing Cooperation
Keolis and ESTACA have been working together for over 10 years in a variety of ways: teaching, running the “Le K Keolis” Business Game for students doing the ecomobility option, participation in the enterprise forum, conferences, recruitment of interns. Keolis also participates in GuidedWays, the student rail transport association, running workshops and activities or opening its sites to visits: conference on contracts won by Keolis for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, visit to the SETRAM network, Urban Loop, etc.
More support for students in the sector
This new agreement between Keolis and ESTACA strengthens their concrete commitment to students in three major areas:
- Educational support: themed conferences, professional testimonials, expert talks, visits to industrial sites, collaborative study projects,
- Support for engineering students’ professional projects: internships, work-study programs, enterprise forums, interview simulation workshops and HR coaching,
- Support for student life: partnerships with associations, event organization, participation in junior enterprise initiatives, sponsorship and equipment donations.
These initiatives open the door to innovative projects by anyone already imagining the future of transport at ESTACA, but also for vocational training for Keolis personnel from techicians to engineers.
Recruitment opportunities to meet the growing need for mobility engineers
Keolis is strengthening its ties with ESTACA, which trains over 40 engineers specialized in guided transport every year, to maintain a pool of qualified candidates in its sector.
Regular recruitment of interns, apprentices and graduates through forums, conferences and associations.
Nearly 30 ESTACA alumni are currently working for Keolis throughout France, particularly in maintenance, engineering and operations.
ESTACA and Keolis are working together to identify their needs in terms of trainees, jobs and events, in order to define pertinent themes and educational projects.
